European Modernism Studies
Luogo: Palazzo San Bernardo | Città: Perugia, Italia
Literature and the body.
This course explores the representations of the body against the background of European Modernism. By referring to ground-breaking aesthetic theories, the course investigates the body as a “contested site” that can be read either as an “auxiliary to the self, a vehicle or object that houses the mind or the soul”. Attention will be paid to Pirandello’s and Kafka’s treatment of the body respectively in the Notebooks of Serafino Gubbio operator and the Short Stories.
